2017: A Year of Loving Generously

 Loving Generously: Part 2
Jesus said, “…you should treat people in the same way that you want people to treat you.” Earlier this year, we began a journey learning more about how God intends for us to love generously. Now, we continue that journey, along with our fictional video friends, Frank, Cassie, Ray and some new friends in the Loving Generously series.

April 23:   Banquet Mindedness: Humility that leads us to relational generosity.
April 30:   Where is your treasure? Accumulating stuff can hurt your relationships.
May 7:       Kindness: God provides you with opportunities to express unexpected generosity.
May 14:     Chosen, to be and to do. God calls this holiness: set apart for God’s use.
May 21:     Community: God invites us to create a community unlike anything we can imagine.

Welcome to Hardy UMC’s website…

IMG_0073Hello! I’m glad you found our website. Perhaps it means you are looking for a church in which to grow in your relationship with God, or to do servant ministry that makes a difference in the lives of people in the community, or to make some new friends, who will be there for you. These are the things we excel in. Hardy Church has staying power; we’ve been here for more than 140 years. Our annual summer chicken dinner and December Live Nativity events are both celebrating over 50 consecutive years of ministry. But we are not satisfied to keep doing only the same things we’ve done before. We respond to current needs with fresh, new activities for our children and youth, new small group adult Bible studies, and men’s and women’s groups that have been recharged over the last  year. Even our website is new. I encourage you to come worship with us on a Sunday morning or come for one of our weekday activities. We’ll be looking for you!

This is a United Methodist slogan signifying our openness to loving God and neighbor, our willingness to consider many ways of being a Christian and our invitation for anyone and everyone to come fellowship with us. But, I was thinking about that last one, open doors. I think it also means that we open our doors to go out into our community to help people who are in need. There is another slogan that comes from our Rethink Church website: Church can happen anywhere.

Opening doors to go out where church can happen anywhere
is part of who we are at Hardy United!
